It is Muhammad Faizal Jamaluddin! Yahoo Muhammad!

Oh the joy we share with this Spanish fan! Well, if there was a team who dominated the competition all the way through it was the 11 players at Urban Works Group! First Richard, then Ari, nearly Peter, then Muhammad! How much depth does this team have? The media are already pondering where Urban Work’s champion tipsters will go from here. Commiserations to Ari after an amazing run! But finally it was Muhammad who triumphed!

We heard a rumour in the Urban Works Office that Muhammad was a bit of a singer! So, in recognition of Spain and it’s great football singers, Muhammad has won the latest CD by the Spanish singing sensation…

Enrique Iglesias’. Wow! What an amazing prize! Actually, no, if that was the prize, we would look like this Netherland’s fan above too!

We realise how much Muhammad enjoyed the whole spectacle of the competition so to relive all the memories he wins the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa – Highlights DVD. But wait, there is more! No, not steak knives! Not an ab cruncher! No, nothing from Les!

We were thinking that Muhammad might just like to play football too! So to keep those World Cup Tipping memories alive in the Urban Works office we have a genuine imitation final series football from FIFA! According to FIFA this ball is “Hand-stitched for big-time planning submissions, this adidas World Cup 2010 Repliqué soccer ball is VCAT tested and ready for inspired 3d modelling.” Fantastic! Wow, what a prize!

So thank you again to everybody who participated. This brings us to the end of 2010 BDC World Cup Football tipping, so remember when it comes to building permits, Uncle Les Murray says … (Go Les!)

The Building Regulations – measuring compliance for the Architect’s vision

We see the building surveyor’s challenge as measuring compliance whilst respecting the Architect’s vision for a whole range of other functional and aesthetic objectives. The Building Regulations don’t, and probably, never will deal with these aspects of the design.

BDC Building Design Compliance recently met John Henry Architect through our marketing to prospective Architect clients in the eastern region of Melbourne. Looking around John’s garden from the entry to his office (on the site above the dwelling) we discussed the beauty of his native garden. We had no idea of the interesting dwelling hidden behind the rear facade of the building at the lower end of the allotment! In Issue 2 of Yarra Valley & ranges Country Life (Autumn 2010 edition) this house by John Henry Architect is featured with a beautiful full page spread of a fascinating dwelling.

For building surveyors some of the aesthetic elements of Architect designs may include minimalist and elegant features that challenge us to verify conformance with the Building Regulations. Even the wording of some of the performance requirements in the BCA may create an initial challenge.

So how do I as a building surveyor “creatively” integrate the measurement of compliance with the Architect’s functional and aesthetic vision? (more…)

Bloody POMS! (Beware the Dutch!)

The winner is Ari Ayfantis of Urban Works Group

Congratulations Ari!

What is going on there at Urban Works Group! First Richard now Ari, how much depth does this team have. (PS Peter Afchianes is now lurking in contention just down the ladder!) Our exclusive interview with Ari’s Football tipping coach reveals that he was always a great dribbler with terrific hand skills in front of goal! But enough of Ari’s amazing tipping skills! What has he won for this wondrous effort I hear you cry! He won not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, but 5 rounds straight! OMG!

Befitting this feat of stamina, Ari has won a signed copy of Laszlo Urge’s famous epic – By the Balls! Here is a taste of the book for us mere tipping mortals – click here.

We will be forwarding Ari his copy of this Football classic specially signed by Laszlo! Champion effort Ari! But still, I hear you wonder, what is Les Murray’s secret identity? Will Urban Works Group’s domination of the competition continue!?

Stay tuned! and … Go Tippers!
